About Us

Literacy Nipissing has been serving adults in the Nipissing area for over 42 years. We are a non-profit, registered, charitable organization that is run by a volunteer board of directors. We are funded through the Literacy and Basic skills branch of the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. We have an Executive Director to manage the day-to-day operations and a Program Coordinator to assist learners and tutors. We have two small groups, in North Bay and Mattawa. We depend on the generosity of our community to volunteer as tutors.  We have served over 5000 learners in our 42 years of operation and we have been blessed to have over 2000 volunteers assist.  We are thankful for every volunteer and we are proud of every learner who walks through our doors looking for help and hope!
