About Us

Literacy Nipissing has been serving adults in the Nipissing area for over 35 years. We are a non-profit, registered, charitable organization that is run by a volunteer board of directors. We are funded through the Literacy and Basic skills branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and universities. We have an Executive Director to manage the day-to-day operations and a Program Coordinator to assist learners and tutors. We have two small groups, in North Bay and Mattawa. We depend on the generosity of our community to volunteer as tutors, to assist with front desk receptionist duties, to organize our library, to keep our computers operating efficiently and to respond to our fundraising and awareness events. We are proud of every learner who walks through our doors looking for help and hope.
