One-to-one Tutoring

You can be matched with a tutor for one-on-one instruction and support.

Literacy Nipissing is fortunate to have trained tutors who are willing to work with a learner on a one-to-one basis. These amazing tutors give their time to assist adults with their learning goals.

If you are looking for help with reading, writing or math, you can be matched with a tutor for one-on-one instruction after an assessment is completed. The assessment gives the Program Coordinator a glimpse of your strengths and areas of potential instruction so that a match can be made.

The Program Coordinator will match a learner and tutor based on the learner's needs and abilities and the tutor's skills.

You will meet your tutor at least once a week for 2 hours. The session length will depend on your needs and availability and the tutor.

The Program Coordinator will set up a program for the tutor to follow based on your assessment results.

We follow the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework, and it helps to ensure that the learning you received is relevant and suits your needs.

One-to-one tutoring may be right for you if:

You want personalized support

You want to upgrade your skills

You want to learn in the evenings
